Founded in 1974 by Hans and Elspeth Vander in a small shopfront in the heart of the city, Vander Family Travel began as a modest operation driven by a shared love of exploration and a belief that travel should feel personal. Hans, a former merchant sailor, and Elspeth, a gifted planner, built their reputation one carefully crafted itinerary at a time. In the 1990s, their daughter Miriam joined the business, bringing a passion for sustainable and off-the-beaten-path destinations that broadened the agency's offerings considerably.
